Together with Karbar we are investigating post school options for our indigenous students
Two students from the Smith Street Unit, and studying by distance through Karabar Distance Education Centre, attended an Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience (AIME) at The University of Wollongong (UoW) on 12 June 2015.
The purpose of AIME is to provide Aboriginal igh School students with the skills. opportunities, belief and confidence to finish school.
Two aspiring scholars, Jack Mitchell and Bailey Murray, met an AIME mentor and discussed their personal goals. The boys also completed a tour of the campus, discovered how to gain entry into their desired UoW degree, and learned about the Alternative Admissions Program available to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people.
The visit was a collaboration between the Smith Street Unit and Karabar Distance Education Centre(KDC).
